Is this a case of each label having a new number.Has anyone found two with the same number? If not we could be looking at thousands. What do you think?

All labels in the shop does have the same number. So I guess it is something like a farm number or a internal number to know where the bananas are from.

But I do not find anything about the numbers at the website of COBANA. And you are right, it is very boring to collect them ..

This is in short the answer from COBANA:

EC-BIO-149 Non-EU-Agriculture does mean the control unit who has given the BIO (organic) certification in EC (Ecuador). In this case 149 = "Control Union"

The long number is is the GLN (Global Location Number) to identify the farm. In this case 7861000900409 is Finca San Jose with the producer Jhony Benavides.
