I agree it is odd to have a 40112 PLU, but that is for Brazil, not the U.S. and is not related to U.S. practice. Brasnica has for a long time used 4011 for Banana Terra (Plantains).
The odd 40112 PLU is for Walmart. They are for Banana Nanica, which is a variety also known in Brazil as Banana Caturra or D'Agua. It is not the same as the 4011 type Cavendish sold in the U.S. and Europe.
